Where and how to place QR codes on your tables

Even the best QR menu won't work if customers don't notice the code or can't scan it. Here's what to watch for.
Size
The code should be big enough for a phone to read from the other side of the table. TableTap cards print six to an A4 sheet, a comfortable size for a table.
Contrast
A dark code on a light background. Don't print on coloured or glossy paper, and don't put the code over a picture. Leave a white margin around it.
Protection
Cards on tables wear out fast. Laminate them or put them in a clear stand, so they can be wiped and won't soak up spilled coffee.
Placement
- Put the card where a seated customer sees it straight away: the middle of the table or against the wall.
- Avoid glare: under a lamp, a laminated card can reflect the light.
- One card per table: in TableTap the code knows the table number, so orders come from the right table.
A little text
One line next to the code is enough: "Scan to see the menu and order". Writing it in three languages helps tourists. TableTap cards already have it.
Test it
Once they're in place, scan every card with a few different phones and check that each one opens the right table.
